What is a balanced Diet ?

Researches show that eating truly healthy food is a real challenge--a Nutritional Challenge. Let me show you Why ?

Most of the Nutrients & Energy is provided to us by 5 Food Groups, viz.


1. Group 1 : Wheat, Rice, Cereals which are major sources of Starch, Carbohydrates, B-Vitamins & fibre.
(6 - 8 Servings to be eaten daily)

2.Group 2 : Fruits & Vegetables which are rich sources of several vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates & fibre.
( 4 - 5 Servings to be eaten daily)

3. Group 3 : Meat, fish, poultry & pulses which primarily provide the body with protein, vitamin- B12, zinc & iron.
(2 - 3 Servings to be eaten daily)

4. Group 4 : Dairy products, high in protein, Calcium and several essential vitamins-A, B2, B6,B12 & D.
( 2 - 4 Servings to be taken daily)

5. Group 5 : Fats, Oils & Sugar are the principal sources of energy for our body. ( To be used Sparingly)
